Dr. Emily Craft, Owner

Dr. Craft was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and she graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Biomedical Engineering before entering dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. She relocated to Austin after dental school because of Austin’s outstanding reputation and her desire to experience life in a different part of the country.

Dr. Craft chose to become a dentist for a multitude of reasons. Dentistry perfectly combines her love of art with her love of science. It allows her to help others by participating in mission work. She feels very lucky to have found a profession that allows her to help those in need. While in dental school, she was involved in the Mission of Mercy Project, which provided dental care to low-income people in remote areas of Virginia. She has also traveled to Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Myanmar with Global Health Outreach to provide dentistry to people that have no access to care. Her most recent mission trip took her to Kenya to work at the Girls’ Rescue Center started by Saruni International. She feels there’s no greater joy in this world than serving those in need. It’s a win-win!

Dr. Craft opened Pecan Park Family Dentistry in 2011 to fulfill her desire to offer outstanding care to patients. She truly believes in treating every patient as family and seeks to live daily to “love your neighbor as yourself”.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, painting, playing volleyball, and learning about nutrition. Traveling the world is her favorite thing to do! She is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Katie James

Dr. James has a special approach to dentistry because of the many hours she spent in the dental chair as a child and young adult. Her teeth required extensive orthodontic treatment, and later, reconstructive jaw surgery to correct a congenital jaw defect and a less than ideal bite.

Dr. James believes that is truly a privilege to be able to provide treatment and education for her patients and their families. Dr. James enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and seeing patients of all ages with diverse dental needs. She is a board member for The Academy of General Dentistry, a professional organization that allows general dentists to continually educate themselves and master all disciplines of general dentistry.

Katie and her husband Daniel, who works in marketing, have been married since 2015. The two actually graduated from high school together but did not meet until several years later when they were introduced by mutual friends. Katie and Daniel enjoy an active lifestyle, and whether it’s skiing or hiking, they love to be outdoors. They also enjoy cooking, trying new restaurants, animal rescue volunteering, going to local concerts, and playing with their pug mix, Polly.

Dr. Netsanet Temesgen

Dr. Netsanet Temesgen is a native Austinite. Born to an Ethiopian father and an American mother, Dr. Temesgen has a true appreciation for cultural diversity and travel. Her love for travel led her to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where she achieved her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS degree) in 2003.

Dr. Temesgen spent the next two years serving the underprivileged communities of Tulsa and Nowata. After learning and growing a lot from her experiences there, Dr. Temesgen returned to Austin to get married and start a family.

Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Temesgen holds her greatest as that of a wife and mother. Her family is top priority and she understands the important roles trust, honesty, communication, education, and support play in the foundation of secure relationships. Her dedication to these values and the relationships she develops with her patients help to set her apart. She takes pride in being a doctor you can count on and trust.

Dr. Temesgen’s professional memberships include the American Dental Association, Co-Founder of the Greater Austin Area Chapter for the Christian Medical and Dental Association, Fellow with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, 2012/2014 nomination and entry into America’s Guide of Top Dentists, currently training with the Las Vegas Institute of Neuromuscular Dentistry, and she is listed in the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry.
